To decide which the favourite race horses of all time were is a difficult and possibly contentious task; certainly it is a moving target. But we will start with the horse than many consider to have been the best thoroughbred flat racers of all time, and that is Sea the Stars. Although the horse had a brief career on the racecourse, and is (we hope) enjoying a long career in stud, he won everything he entered including the 2,000 Guineas, the Epsom Derby, the Eclipse Stakes, the International Stakes, the Irish Champion Stakes, and his final achievement ,the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Of course one of everybody’s favourites was Red Rum. This steeplechaser won the Aintree Grand National three times, in 1973, 1974 and 1977. In 1975 and 1976 he came in second. In his final victory he was at one time 30 lengths behind, and it was a remarkable and courageous achievement to come back so strongly. Many claim that this was the greatest Grand national run ever. Such courage was rewarded by a huge following, and even after he was retired, he made frequent public appearances. His remains are buried by the finishing post at the Aintree race course.

Courtesy of ascotgallery.com

Arkle was another horse with which the public fell in love. The horse was very gifted ands achieved the highest rating of any steeplechaser. Ridden by the great Pat Taaffe, the horse won the Cheltenham Gold Cup on three consecutive occasions from 1964 until 1966. He also won the Hennessy Gold Cup, the Irish Grand National and the King George VI Chase. Unfortunately his career was cut short by injury.
Other all time favourites we must include are Desert Orchid and Best Mate, both outstanding horses that had a huge public following.

The Cheltenham Festival is the jewel in the crown of National Hunt racing. There are four splendid days with each of them packed with a wide variety of races and each one featuring a major international race. If you are planning to attend, to follow the festival on the media, or just to bet on some of the races , then this is what to expect.

On Day One, known as Champion Day, when the tapes go up to start the first race, the William Hill Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, you can expect to hear a huge roar from the crowd. The deafening sound is known as the Cheltenham Roar and it is a customary opening to the festival and each year the crowd tries to make even more noise than it succeeded in doing the year before. The feature race is
Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy which is the most important hurdle race in the national Hunt season.

On the Wednesday you should expect to see many pretty girls displaying haute couture even if the temperatures are seasonally chilly. Of course you can expect to see that on any day of the festival, but on Ladies Day there are also fashion awards. The featured race is the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

On the Thursday you can expect to see many Irishmen and some Irishwomen having a great deal of fun in the enclosures and in the various Irish pubs and bars that are dotted around the festival site. The festival is a firm favourite amongst the Irish and St Patricks Thursday as the day is known is a great excuse for the letting down of hair. The featured race is the World Hurdle.

The final day is Cheltenham Gold Cup Day and it is really all about the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the most important race of the whole festival. More money is bet on this race than any other jump race with the exception of the Grand National. For more information on the festival and betting, check out the festival guide at betfair.com.

There is a reason why Cheltenham Racecourse is noted as one of the best racecourses in the country – even in the world – and that reason is hospitality. Cheltenham might be hosting the Cheltenham Festival as well as top events such as the Champion Hurdle and Cheltenham Gold Cup, but what makes this racetrack special for visitors is its hospitality.

There are tons of amenities you can enjoy while you are visiting Cheltenham Racecourse for the weekend. Our first pick would be dining options, with several restaurants and special-invitation evening available throughout the race weekend. The Panoramic Restaurant offers simple yet delicious cuisines, with touches of traditional recipes indulging your tastes. The Gold Cup Restaurant features the kind of ambience you will certainly love.

Let’s not forget that there are also restaurants that are open only during the festival weekend. Moscow Flyer Restaurant offers power lunch, perfect for powering you up for watching the race. Horseshoe Pavilion Restaurant is an exclusive dining choice available to those of you who are serious about enjoying the most indulging experiences while visiting Cheltenham.

Private groups and box rentals are also available, so you can easily pick the best spots to watch the race. If you are truly a horseracing fan, the Hi-Lux Chalets is probably the most suitable private box to get. As much as it may cost, it will be worth it down to the last penny for sure. Why? Because the Hi-Lux Chalets offers amazing views of the start moments as well as get the best seat in the house for watching the best horse win the race.

When attending a horseracing event, the best way to go is to secure a comfortable seat with perfect view. It is the ultimate pleasure for horseracing fan indeed, with all the actions and excitements available to us throughout the race. When it comes to Cheltenham Festival, there are several enclosures you would need to understand before making your decision on which seat to take.

The first and probably the most luxurious and exclusive enclosure at the Cheltenham Racecourse is Club. You can also use all the facilities within Tattersalls, as well as access top amenities provided exclusively for Club ticket holders.

The Tattersalls Enclosure offers extensive grandstand views along with selections of bars and refreshments. You can watch the race while enjoying snacks and light drinks of your choice when you are seated in the Tattersalls Enclosure. Of course, those of you seating in the Tattersalls Enclosure are as well as the Club can access The Centaur and Hall of Fame.

If what you love is being closer to the actual actions and be as close as possible to the racetrack, you will find The Sun’s Best Mate Enclosure the best enclosure for you. It is still very exclusive, with additional amenities guaranteeing you a superb time while enjoying the Cheltenham Festival.

Watching majestic horserace such as the Cheltenham Gold Cup is not complete without placing horseracing bets. Cheltenham betting is an interesting part of Cheltenham race weekend for sure, especially because there are several profitable betting opportunities available throughout the race days. If you are a true horseracing punter, now is the best time to start placing bets.

Avid bettors would probably have placed their bets already – perhaps including you. The odds are better with more time to the race for those of you who are rooting for the favorites. Denman and Kauto Star are the two horses you should be checking out for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, while Go Native and Solwhit are the two horses favored to win the Champion Hurdle.

Don’t focus on the favorite horses just yet, since the odds are getting better as we get closer to race day. Several top horses competing in the Champion Hurdle is receiving handsome odds that would make placing bets on them highly profitable. Khyber Kim is currently placed at 11 to 1, while other top horses such as Medermit and Punjabi are getting similar odds.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is even more interesting, with Imperial Commander’s and Cooldine’s odds set at 13.5 and 14 respectively. These two horses are potential winners as well, so placing bets on them is highly profitable. With Kauto Star’s odds at 1.78 and Denman’s set at 5 to 1, betting on other potential horses can prove to be highly profitable and can be great money making opportunities.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is one of the best moments of the sporting year, held in March 19th, 2010. It is also noted as the biggest horseracing event in the UK, with top horses competing for the infamous Cheltenham Gold Cup. If you are a true horseracing lover, this is the event you should be attending. There are several interesting facts about this year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup, some of them will be discussed in this article.

The 2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup marks the third time Denman and Kauto Star race against each other for the title of champion. It is interesting to see how these two top horses compete for the first place, especially because the current standing is 1-1. A lot of horseracing fans are considering this year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup a tie breaker to determine which of these two horses is the best.

Kauto Star also stands a chance of scoring huge record by winning Cheltenham Gold Cup for the third time. There are several select horses who have done this before – by select horses I mean legendary ones such as Golden Miller, Arkle and Best Mate. Another win this year and Kauto Star will join the group of 3-times Cheltenham Gold Cup winners.

Denman would also try to take home the Cheltenham Gold Cup repeating the 2008 success. There are a lot of things at stake here, so utmost excitements and superb actions are to be expected on Friday, March 19th, 2001, at the beautiful Cheltenham Racecourse.

Cheltenham Festival and the infamous Cheltenham Gold Cup day are the two events you wouldn’t want to miss. With the 2010 Cheltenham Festival closing in fast, getting the best seats in the house to enjoy the most excitements is a must. To make sure you have a great time visiting the Cheltenham Racecourse, you need to make sure you secure seats properly. Here are a couple of tips you can use to get Cheltenham Festival tickets.

First of all, book as early as possible. If you haven’t book a ticket just yet, now is the best time to do it. There are thousands of people who would want to visit Cheltenham Racecourse for the festival, and booking early is the only way you can make sure you have the best seats you want.
